Start with a question your customer needs answered
A useful page has a specific job. A web design service page should explain what can be built, how scope is agreed and what happens after an enquiry. A cost guide should explain the factors that change a quote. A city page should help buyers in that market understand coverage, coordination and relevant project decisions.
Put a direct answer near the beginning, then explain the conditions and tradeoffs. If the answer depends on integrations, content readiness or the number of page types, say so. Avoid padding a simple answer with repeated variations of the keyword.
Give the answer evidence and a clear owner
Use examples that make an explanation concrete. Describe how a service business might separate an urgent callback from a planned project enquiry, or how a store might organize products with several options. Label illustrative examples clearly. Actual results, client logos, testimonials and case studies need permission and verifiable supporting information.
Identify who is responsible for the content and keep service descriptions consistent across the website. Publish realistic scope boundaries, contact details and an understandable process. Review dates should reflect a real review. Neither a confident writing style nor a generated author profile creates evidence of expertise.
Make useful information available to crawlers and readers
Important answers should appear as readable page content with descriptive headings and links. Do not require a visitor to start a chat to discover basic services or project requirements. Use a logical navigation structure, stable URLs and internal links that connect related topics. Ensure intended public pages can be crawled and indexed.
Google says a page must be indexed and eligible to appear with a snippet to be a supporting link in its AI features. Meeting those conditions does not guarantee selection. A special AI text file is not a substitute for accessible content, relevant pages and ordinary technical SEO.
Use structured data to describe what is really there
Structured data can describe an organization, a service, an article or a page’s position in the website. The information must agree with the visible content. It should not invent an office in every city, fabricate review scores or attach claims that customers cannot verify on the page.
Questions and answers can still make a page easier to use without promising a special search appearance. Google’s documentation records that FAQ rich results stopped appearing in Search from May 7, 2026. Keep FAQs because they resolve buying questions, and avoid treating a markup template as a shortcut to visibility.
Measure discovery, usefulness and business outcomes
Review relevant queries, impressions, clicks and landing pages in Search Console, then compare them with qualified enquiries. In analytics, track meaningful actions such as a successfully submitted project request. Do not send names, email addresses, chat transcripts or open-ended enquiry text as analytics event parameters.
Ask where leads found the business and which questions remained unanswered. AI referral reports and search reports describe different views of discovery; neither provides a complete account of every assisted decision. Improve pages using observed gaps, publish original supporting material and allow enough time to assess a change. No content format can guarantee rankings or citations.
Your planning checklist
- Assign one clear customer question and search intent to each page.
- Support business claims with real evidence and clearly identify illustrative examples.
- Keep primary answers crawlable and align structured data with visible content.
- Evaluate qualified enquiries together with search and referral trends.
Common questions
Is there special schema required for Google’s AI search features?
Google states that no special schema or extra technical requirements are needed for its AI features. Existing SEO fundamentals, indexability, snippet eligibility and useful content remain the practical starting point.
Can a provider guarantee an AI citation or a first-page ranking?
No provider controls which pages a search or answer system selects. A responsible plan defines the work, the evidence to publish, the measurement approach and the improvements to make as results become available.
